Hong Kong, SAR – Cook Medical Hong Kong office (Cook Asia Limited) is honoured to be awarded as a Caring Company by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services (HKCSS), in recognition of its outstanding commitment in promoting community, employees, and environmental well-being.

Caring for the community
Employees from Cook Medical Hong Kong office participated in a series of workshops and volunteer events hosted by NLPRA.
A key company value at Cook Medical is to ‘Give Back’. The Hong Kong office’s corporate social responsibility team actively collaborates with non-profit organisations to organise community events to better support the vulnerable.
One of Cook Medical’s corporate partners, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (NLPRA), nominated Cook Medical Hong Kong as a Caring Company, to recognise its efforts towards creating a stronger community. As a non-profit company, NLPRA is dedicated in promoting mental wellness through delivering community-based mental health services, such as psychology and peer-support services. The partnership included initiatives, ranging from purchasing organic drinks produced by NLPRA’s sheltered workshops, to organising festival workshops and health talks for NLPRA members.
Caring for employees
Cook Medical earned the WELL Certification which centred on seven key concepts of the building performance: Air, Water, Fitness, Nourishment, Light, Comfort, and Mind.
Cook Medical has always sought to foster workplace wellness initiatives across all of its global offices. In May 2019, the Hong Kong office was awarded with WELL certificate at the silver level. This recognition showcased Cook’s efforts to create a space that prioritises employees’ health and well-being, through the stringent maintenance of indoor environmental quality.
Cook also provides employee benefits such as non-statutory leave, health insurance that covers employees’ family members as beneficiaries, office workout classes and a multifunction room that can be used by nursing mothers or for general relaxation and mindfulness need in the offices. These efforts have been put in place to ensure the physical and mental well-being of its employees.
During the recent pandemic, providing employees with work flexibility has been at the core of all protective measures taken by the Hong Kong office, which aims to meet the varying needs of employees.
Caring for the environment
In addition to Cook Medical’s implementation of its Environmental Policy, the Hong Kong office also plays its part in reducing negative environmental behaviours by encouraging waste recycling and reuse within the office.
‘The “Caring Company” recognition is a great affirmation of our ongoing efforts for community, employees, and the environment’, said Theodore Wong, general manager, Cook Medical Hong Kong. ‘Looking ahead, we plan to introduce more initiatives around workplace improvements, employee engagement, and community programmes to uphold our caring spirit’.
Launched in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme seeks to foster good corporate citizenship and facilitate strategic alliances between corporations and non-profit organisations to create a more unified society. It honours organisations with the ‘Caring Company’ designation to recognise contributions to the community, employees, and the environment.
